I turn complexity into strategies and narratives that shift systems.

Global Advocacy Strategist • Storyteller • Curious Explorer

I’m Dee Harris.

Throughout my career, I've worked at the intersection of human creativity and the systems that either build it or erode it — as a high school journalism teacher, a behavioral health storyteller, and now as Director of Open Culture Storytelling at Creative Commons, where I work on international cultural policy at UNESCO and beyond.

That arc gave me an early seat at a question I couldn't shake: what happens to human creative capacity when the systems around us are designed for efficiency and scale?

That question is now the center of my work. Through The Curiosity Practice, my Substack, I explore what it means to remain capable and creative inside systems designed to do our thinking for us — protecting the conditions where wonder, imagination, discernment, connection, and adaptation actually develop, so that our relationship with technology strengthens us rather than substitutes for us.
